"The story of your life in 250 words or less"
"The story of your life in 250 words or less" is the first Blog Everyday In May Challenge topic and I am so excited to get started on this one. I should warn you before we start - I enjoy breaking rules, therefore my "story of my life" will probably be a lot longer than 250 words.
Yes, I am only 19 and I still have SO much more living to do, but so far I have had a pretty exciting and eventful life!
I was born and raised in a small farming community where I still live with my amazing dad and step-mom and most of my immediate family (when I get the chance to go home from University). I wouldn't change a thing about the place I grew up in, although now that I am older, I am keen to spread my wings and discover what this big bad world has to offer.
My parents got divorced when I was 9. I have a younger brother and sister from my parent's marriage. My mom remarried and had another little girl and boy. I have always struggled with my relationship with my mother - we don't talk sadly, but I wish her nothing but the best in life. I have always been extremely close with my dad and our relationship gets better and better everyday. My dad remarried when I was 12. I am extremely blessed to have the step-mom that I have. I consider her to be my mom and I couldn't ask for a better role model and best friend. Recently my dad and step-mom welcomed the most beautiful baby boy into the world. I love nothing more than being a big sister at 19.
I attended 3 different junior schools and an all girls' high school. I was a weekly boarder from Grade 7 to Matric. I thoroughly enjoyed boarding, with the exception of my Grade 7 year. I was extremely homesick throughout that year, but in hindsight I am so grateful for what it taught me.
In Matric I was on various committees and was voted prefect. I was honored to be placed in these positions as I learned so much from them, however, I am so glad that my Matric year is over.
I am currently in 1st year, studying Psychology and Drama. I am enjoying my courses and my new life here away from home, but not a day goes by without me missing my family. Right now I am focused on making a life for myself and my future family, so I know that being so far away from home will one day all be worth it.
I have such a passion for life and I am grateful for every obstacle I have had to overcome, for it has shaped me into the person I am today. I have had an amazing 19 years thus far, and I cannot wait to see what else life has in store for me!
