About Me

June 24, 2015
So you found your way onto my little space on the internet and you're probably wanting to get to know a bit more about the girl behind the words, yes? Most of the time I'm still trying to figure out who exactly I am, so until we've solved that one, here are a couple of things you probably don't need to know about me...

The name's Shannon and I'm a 20-something year old with an old soul and a heart that beats for Jesus.

I grew up on the most stunning farm that has been in my family for generations - it is without a doubt my favourite place on Earth.

Speaking of family, mine happens to be pretty incredible. We're a massive, blended family and things tend to get crazy when we're around. The littlest one, my brother, Liam Patrick holds my heart. He's two years old and finally made his precious way into our family after much prayer, heartbreak and truckloads of faith. He was born just over two months prematurely and weighed in at 1kg. He spent the first month of his life in the NICU and he's shown us what it means to be a fighter. My Dad is my rock and absolute hero and my Step Mom, Clauds, is my very best friend. We're beyond blessed to have each other and I've never met a more supportive, understanding, loving and completely ridiculous bunch.

My younger siblings and I - also known as the ones I tend to rule over.
I read the credits at the end of a movie.

I'm convinced that an episode of Friends and a mug of tea can fix just about anything.

I'm a student at one of South Africa's smallest, most academic and undoubtedly most festive Universities. I'm currently majoring in Psychology and Anthropology and will have my undergraduate degree at the end of 2015.

I adore love and I cannot wait to fall hopelessly and irrevocably into it someday. I'm so excited to have my own family one day and to do life with the man that God has chosen for me.

I write constantly. Letters to myself, God, family members and sometimes people I don't even know the names of. I write poetry, blog posts, journal entries and prayers. I find it so therapeutic and necessary for my soul. I'm obsessed with snail mail and I love nothing more than receiving or sending a good old fashioned letter through the mail.

Most days I try not to take things too seriously. I'm a feeler and a dreamer. All in all these still waters run pretty deep and I do hope you'll stay a while.
