"A moment in your day (this can be just a photo or both a photo and words)"
I am so excited to share this particular 'moment in my day' with you lovely readers. These particular moments were captured by photographer, Adrian Frost, and the particular moment(s) that I will be talking about happened last month.
On the 19th of April I took part in the Sexual Violence = Silence Protest. This protest is an annual protest against sexual violence against women as well as rape.

The Taped Protestors |
We, as protestors, begin our day by having our mouths taped shut at 6am. We then marched in silence around our campus before our lectures started. We remained completely silent for the entire day, going without food or water. We carry on with our day as usual, but silenced by the tape.
At lunch time we all gather at a specific location and lie down in silence for an hour and half. This is known as the "die in" and it is in memory of those who lost their lives to sexual assault. After the die in we then carry on with the rest of our day before gathering at The Cathedral. It is in The Cathedral where we listen to survivor's stories, where we light candles in solidarity, where we remove our tape and where we break our silence for the first time in 12 hours.

The taping of our mouths symbolizes our support for those rape victims who feel that they cannot speak out about their experience or feel that they have been silenced by their rape.
The day was an incredibly tough one, emotionally and physically but knowing that I was showing my support and speaking out for those who felt that they could not made the entire day worth it.
This is beautiful. And as a survivor of sexual abuse, very touching and heartwarming.
